We have extended Campaign 2015, in the hopes of meeting the target and funding 2016 programs. Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far.
Our goal for 2015 is to raise $10,000, with the following breakdown:
- Dhrupad Days ($2,000)
- DMIA visiting artist ($5000)
- Grant funds to deserving Dhrupad projects and efforts at DMIA local chapters ($3,000)
Progress Toward Goal:
Thanks to everyone who contributed toward Campaign 2015. At the end, we raised $6931.72. While this fell short of the $10,000 goal, it was the highest amount raised in the annual fund raising campaign to date.
How To Donate:
To donate, please send a check made out to “Dhrupad Music Institute of America” and mail it to:
Attn: Shubha Sankaran

More about 2016 planned programs:
Dhrupad Days, our signature annual music festival is expanding to three locations (Seattle, Wayne NJ and Montreal) in 2016. Your donation enables DMIA’s sponsorship of this festival which we run in partnership with Cornish College of the Arts, William Patterson University and Université du Québec à Montréal. Your donation will most likely be used by our US partners to sponsor scholarships, thus enabling those who cannot afford it to attend.
Visiting Artist Program
DMIA would like to launch a visiting artist program in 2016, where a trained Dhrupad artist would reside in the US for a few months, thus becoming a valuable resource for those who want to learn Dhrupad from a local teacher.
Grants – Dhrupad Projects and Local Chapters
DMIA encourages Dhrupad related projects, and supports worthy applicants whenever funds allow. Help support tours, performance and help grow the body of knowledge and research into Dhrupad. Projects include support of all Indian Classical Music through events organized by DMIA’s regional presences and chapters such as the Seattle Chapter.
None of this can happen without your support. Please support the preservation and growth of a beautiful and ancient musical tradition, which is a precious part of India’s heritage and contribution to the world.
We look forward to your generous support, and please do also spread the word.
