Dhrupad Bhakti

Dhrupad Bhakti Music Festival – September 11-15, 2015

Dhrupad is the oldest musical tradition of India. There are many beautiful musical compositions in Dhrupad, some dedicated to various deities. Dhrupad Bhakti workshops focus on these compositions as well as on Dhrupad and the mediation & worship aspect of music. Learn and enjoy singing these compositions with others in a weekend full of workshops taught by world renowned artists and teachers, Padmashri Gundecha Brothers.
Individual one on one classes are also available. Please see below for full schedule, and sign up information.

Group Workshops

Workshops will teach compositions and will cover essential elements of Dhrupad, India’s oldest musical tradition. Topics include voice culture,  raga aesthetics, science of raga, tala, syllables of alap and the structure of Dhrupad.

Master Classes Sign-up

Padmashri Gundecha Brothers are masters of Dhrupad and voice culture. They have founded and run Dhrupad Sansthan, a music school in Bhopal, where they train students to become world class performers. They also have students all over the world, whom they teach over skype, as well as during workshops and tours. Many practicing musicians go to them to enhance  their performance. These  master classes are a rare opportunity to spend time one on one with these master artists. Musicians of all levels and genres will benefit from their musical insight.

Vocal and Pakhawaj Master Classes are available. The vocal master classes are also for wind, string and bowed instrumentalists.
