Spend this 4th of July weekend immersed in Dhrupad in beautiful Seattle. The DMIA retreat is for all musicians and for learners who have some experience in Dhrupad or other Indian Classical.
The material in the retreat is taught by Pandit Ramakant Gundecha, and will include the following topics:
Individual training in small groups and Group Classes:
* Voice culture
* Composition and Alap in various Ragas
* Tala and Laya
* Voice in Indian Music
* Introduction to the major Ragas (Melodic scales) in Indian Music
* Role of Microtones in Indian Music
* Various Voice techniques in Dhrupad Vocal
* Role of Swar and Shruti in Raga Music
* Audio-Video listening, Discussions on arts and music, Story telling, Individual experiences, World music
On July 7, retreat participants will have the opportunity to perform at Day of Dhrupad
Cost and Sign up
The early bird price for the 3 day retreat is $150, if signing up by March 31. After March 31, the cost is $195.

Registration can be cancelled by May 31 for a full refund. Cancellations after May 31 will result in a refund of 90% of the total paid amount.
Retreat location is at Dibble House, Seattle, a quaint Bed and Breakfast in Ballard, a nice neighborhood in Seattle. Those traveling to Seattle and in need of rooms can stay at Dibble House. Please see sign up form above to rent a room at Dibble House. Dibble House only has 5 rooms, so sign up soon.

Breakfast will be provided at no extra charge for those staying at Dibble House.
Vegetarian lunch and snacks will be available at an extra charge to all retreat participants who sign up for lunch and snacks.
Dinner is not provided as part of the DMIA retreat. Those from Seattle already know this… but Seattle offers a wide variety of excellent dining options, and there are options within walking distance of Dibble House.
